Mr Simon Radley graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1985 with Honours in Surgery. He undertook registrar surgical training in general surgery in the West Midlands and went on to complete specialist training at St. Marks Hospital in London. During his registrar surgical training, he also undertook an overseas training fellowship having been awarded grants from the International College of Surgeons of England and the Royal College of Surgeons of England and travelled to America visiting Boston, Minneapolis and The Mayo Clinic to study treatments for early and advanced rectal cancer.

“Excellent care and expertise”
Thank you for your excellent care and expertise I was very well cared for before and during my hernia operation. I had some concerns as I have a pacemaker and a defibrillator with blood thinners however Mr Radley was most reassuring and the team gave me the confidence to proceed. The immediate after care was excellent and I did not have any worries on being discharged the same day. I followed all the advice and I was able to return to my normal cycling and jogging activities after 6 to 7 weeks. Thank you all from an active 78 year old.

The immediate after care was excellent and I did not have any worries on being discharged the same day. “I was back to carrying on with my normal life within the month.”
I had been diagnosed with an inguinal hernia by my GP and was in a lot of discomfort. Being 77 years old I wasn't prepared to put up with this discomfort until the NHS were able to operate. (I still haven't heard from the NHS for my initial consultation with them). I did some research on going private and contacted Simon Radley for a consultation. 11 days later I had the operation. Everything was explained clearly before the op and on the day of the op everything went smoothly. After the first week I had no discomfort or pain and was back to carrying on with my normal life within the month. Thank you Simon and your team.

“I couldn’t recommend Mr Radley more.”
I couldn’t recommend Mr Radley more. My father had a stroke around 10 years ago, so when he had developed an inguinal hernia we were very concerned about the risk of any surgery. Mr Radley and the team assured us with great detail around the procedure. Rather than waiting 2+ years as we were advised with the NHS we managed to get this sorted in the space of a week and a half. 1 day in and out with no complications. Mr Radley and the team were extremely respectful, knowledgeable and professional.

I've been rather unfortunate with hernias - groin both sides and more recently an umbilical hernia that was starting to need attention. But very fortunately, Simon Radley at the Birmingham Hernia Clinic has operated on me and sorted everything out. Mr Radley is personable, considerate and obviously highly experienced and competent. My inguinal hernia was not causing me pain, however it was getting larger, it wasn't going to go away and what would be the consequences if it became strangulated? I was reassured by Simon Radley's published experience as a surgeon and meeting him in person, confirmed that I had indeed found a very experienced professional. My one day stay at The Priory, Edgbaston was arranged for Simon and his team to treat my hernia. On the day, my wife and I were welcomed to the hospital and escorted to a comfortable room for our stay. All the hospital's staff acted throughout in a caring, reassuring and professional manner. I had no doubt I was in good hands. The operation and post operative care was carried out most satisfactorily. I was reassured that the hospital was only a phone call away during my convalescence. I would highly recommend him and his team at The Priory, Edgbaston.

My experience has been excellent from initial consultation through to being discharged. The day of the operation was relaxed, smooth and efficient, reflecting the professionalism of the staff. The post-op rehab and pain relief made for a quick recovery back to full mobility and it may even have improved my golf swing! I would have no hesitation to recommend this team for anyone else with a similar condition.
